Traditionally you never wish an actor “good luck” before a performance – you tell them to “break a leg.”
The origins of this custom are obscure but, of course, you are not meant to take the message literally. That is, unless you are directing a play for the Falcon Players!
Both Sue Vickers and Chris Marlow, who are directing Birthday Suite, the Falcon Players latest production, have had their legs in plaster following separate accidents.
Thankfully the cast have so far remained immune to any casualties and the play itself, a comedy about the hilarious complications of computer dating,
opens next week at the Cope Auditorium on Epinal Way, Loughborough.
Geoff Tippet has arranged a special birthday treat for his old friend Bob. The treat is a hotel room for the night and an attractive girl called Mimi. Add shy Kate who anxiously awaits Dick from the dating agency who has been shown into the wrong room; Bob’s wife Liz who believes she is dining with Geoff; and a connecting door between the two rooms. The result is a recipe for a fast-moving and hilarious comedy.
The Saturday performance of Birthday Suite is already a sell out, however tickets for the other performances remain on sale from the Town Hall Box Office, Market Place in Loughborough priced at just £7.00. Concessions are available for our Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evening shows at just £6.00. Bookings can be made in person or by telephone on 01509 231914 from 10am to 5.30pm Monday to Saturday.
